Classical Summer Concerts 2019

Summer Concerts at Langeland is a traditional festival of classical music every year.

Summer concerts at Langeland open their doors to their 42nd season with dear reunions, a double prize winner in the prestigious Kathleen Ferrier song competition and finally one of the world's largest young cellists.

Angelika & Julius: Saturday May 25 at. 15.30 in Bøstrup Church
The audience at the tradition-rich and exclusive music festival at Nordlangeland - Summer concerts at Langeland - can again welcome the public favorites chamber singer Angelika Kirchschlager and Julius Drake, who open the season with a concert on Saturday 25 May 2019 in Bøstrup Church.
Angelika Kirchschlager is considered one of the leading interpreters of Mozart and Strauss, and has been on all major opera scenes. Julius is one of the greatest pianists of the time, and has played with a large number of the greatest voices on international music scenes such as - in addition to Angelika Kirchschlager - Ian Bostridge, Gerald Finlay, Mark Padmore, Jonas Kampmann and Alice Coote.

Gemma Summerfield is a young star on the way, in 2015 she won the first prize and the song award at the annual Kathleen Ferrier award ceremony. In 2018, the young soprano also won the Susan Chilcott Award for Wigmore Hall singers along with Sebastian Wybrew on the piano. Gemna Sunnerfield and Sebatsian Wybrew are both trained at the Royal College of Music.

World-class cello: Saturday August 17 at. 15.30 in Stoense Church
One of the greatest cellists of the time closes season 2019. The French-Belgian cellist Camille Thomas returned in 2014 to the new big star by Jens Ole Rasmussen from Danmarks Radio. Since then, Camille Thomas has conquered the world and in 2017 received a record deal with Deutsche Grammophone. Camille Thomas also received a French Grammy in 2014 as the year's new name. She is educated at Wolfgang-Emmanuel Hochshule für Musik and plays at a Gagliano cello from 1788 "Chateau Pape-Clément".
